LINTEL PLACEMENT AND INSTALLATION

The prefabricated steel lintels are designed so that they can be set above all the openings and bear 10cm on each side. Integrated columns with rebar and grout are adjacent to each side of each opening and are also spaced approximately one meter apart between any openings.

Omni Block’s stretcher blocks are inverted (turned upside down) and the V’s of the Omni Block design sit over the top of the lintel’s double structural vertical membranes. Block is laid as fast as if laying it on another course of block. No forming with wood is required.

The “crossover course” is laid as shown, then a course above where the interior cell is left void for horizontal rebar to be laid within and grouted. This horizontal rebar extends to the adjacent vertical cells on each side of the opening and then grouted.

All window and door openings are in 20cm increments so there are no block cuts at any of the openings. Wider opening spans require that the lintel be braced. Notice that several block are stacked to provide suitable bracing with materials on site until the grout above cures.
